The family motto “Fac et Spera” – do and hope – says it all. Two words that sum up all the patience and daring that this art demands: patience in relation to nature which presides; daring for the winemaker, who observes, chooses and assists. The wine will be the faithful expression of this alchemy.
In 1988, Michel Chapoutier managed the estate, the quality has improved and the international reputation was enhanced. Besides the original vineyard in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards in Cote Rotie, Chateauneuf du Pape and Condrieu etc. Michel was enthusiastic about biodynamic farming. Since 1991, biodynamics is at the heart of M.Chapoutier’s philosophy. Moreover, the estate has focused on single vineyard, the wine will be the faithful expression of the terrior.

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac (...) boasts a dense purple color along with a sumptuous nose of black raspberries, black currants, incense, camphor, licorice, and garrigue. Full-bodied, voluptuously-textured, exuberant, rich, and pure with stunning depth and concentration, it can be drunk young or cellared for 15-20 years. (Issued in 2009)
