Antinori is a Tuscan-based wine company that is one of the largest and most prominent in Italy. The history of the house dates back to the 14th Century.
This wine has used the grapes exclusively from the Tenuta Tignanello.
The Tignanello estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico production zone, nestled between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers, and extends over close to 319 hectares. The vineyards consist principally of the native Sangiovese grape along with such non-traditional varieties as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The Marchese Antinori is produced from the grapes of the Tignanello estate since 2011. It is a wine which presents itself as the full expression of the quality and elegance of the Sangiovese of this part of Tuscany.

The grapes were destemmed, gently crushed; the must was transferred into stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation occurred in about one week’s time. The wine went into French and Hungarian oak barriques forapproximately one year. Marchese Antinori Riserva was then bottled and given a further twelve-month period of bottle aging before being released.

The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is a generous and open-knit wine with pretty plushness and dark fruit flavors of cherry, plum and dried currant. It ages in barrique with a lot of secondhand or otherwise neutral oak, and that's why the fruit comes through with such clarity. This is one of the big surprises of this flight, and this vintage certainly punches above its price point. These results show depth, harmony and lasting fruit flavors. This is a solid recommendation.
