The Domaine de Montille was established in Volnay in the mid-18th century. It currently farms 20 hectares of primarily Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the Côtes de Beaune and Nuits. Since 2002, Alix and Etienne de Montille manage the estate and the winemaking, bringing their individual contributions while staying true to the vision of their father, Hubert de Montille.

Soft wood frames the spicy and discreetly earth and animale-infused mix of red and dark berry fruit aromas where the earth continues onto the big, muscular and powerful flavors that brim with an abundance of dry extract that renders the firm tannic spine less prominent on the serious, long and explosive finish. This is a big wine with plenty of focused brawn yet there is almost no rusticity.
