The delineated, enclosed Kaseler Dominikanerberg vineyard is one of Germany's rare monopole estates, owned exclusively by the von Nell-Breuning family. With its steep slopes, Dominikanerberg provides the perfect conditions for brilliantly fruity Rieslings. It features barren slate ground, with hard blue slate slabs which imbue the wines with a distinctive minerality. The steep south to south-west facing slope’s gradients average 50%.

2016 Riesling Spätlese is a very impressive and still young wine with excellent maturing potential. Elegant notes of flint-stone – a very typical expression of the Ruwer Valley´s terroir - combined with pear, mirabelle plum, herbs and slate. Delicate fruit on the palate with a touch of wild strawberries, showing the first suggestion of this wine’s great potential. Very smooth and creamy. Long on the finish.
2016 Riesling Spätlese goes well with a variety of dishes, such as shellfish, spicy food, goose as well as soft cheeses with washed rind & mild blue cheeses.
